A census date is the point in a term at which your enrollments are final and credit hours are locked. Census dates coincide with the last date in a term that you can withdraw for a full tuition refund (please see the Billing Due Dates and Refund Policy for more details), request a switch in major, submit a campus and/or program transfer request, and/or return to Relay from a leave of absence, withdrawal, administrative withdrawal, or program dismissal. If returning from a medical leave, you may be permitted to return after the term census date if approved by the campus Dean’s Office and SFS. Census dates for school year 2018–19 can be found in the table below.
If you take a leave of absence, withdraw, are administratively withdrawn, or are dismissed before the census date of a term, you will not receive credit for assignments or assessments submitted during that term, even if you receive a grade on the assignments.
If you take a leave of absence, withdraw, are administratively withdrawn, or are dismissed after the term census date but before you receive a final grade for your course at the end of the term, you will not earn grades and/or credit for courses taken that term. In this case, your transcripts will demonstrate the following in lieu of a course grade, depending on your exit type:
- “INC” for leave of absences; and
- “W” for all other exit types (withdrawal, administrative withdrawals, and program dismissals).
Grades of “INC” will change to grades of “W” grades if you are on a leave of absence and do not return to Relay after one year (365 consecutive days).
