Relay Teaching Residency focuses on preparing a diverse cohort of committed teachers to make an academic and character impact for students in diverse, urban communities. Our program is designed specifically to help prepare and develop teachers who are committed to teaching in high-need schools. Further, participants in our program find they are making an investment in their development by investing a year into honing the teaching craft and working alongside a mentor teacher (Resident Advisor, or RA) at one of our school partners.
You will learn and train at your job placement while working toward your teacher certification and Master of Arts in Teaching degree (MAT) with Relay. In joining the Relay Teaching Residency, you will be joining a national network of educators—teachers and school leaders—who invest in being the best educator possible, value meaningful feedback to improve, and believe in the power of a teacher and leader. You will be part of a pedagogical model to: learn teaching skills, practice those teaching skills, and then perform.
