Eligible students who are enrolled half-time and receive the TEACH Grant, qualify for $2,000 annually. The award is subject to a federal sequester fee of 5.9% for TEACH Grants requested after October 1, 2019, which brings the total award disbursed to the student to $1,882 for the year. The sequester fee for grants requested after October 1, 2020 will be subject to the new sequester fee which will impact grant amount for the 2020-2021 school year.The sequester fee for grants requested after October 1, 2019 will be 5.9%, which brings the total award disbursed to the student to $1882 for the year. The sequester fee is taken out of the award total by the government for operational costs and does not go to Relay.
The TEACH Grant will be disbursed equally across terms at the same time as loans, with two disbursements each term, generally starting from the term during which you request and qualify for the grant. For example, grants requested during the summer term will usually be disbursed in 6 equal portions (two in the summer, two in the fall, and two in the spring). Grants requested in the fall will be disbursed in 4 equal portions (two in the fall and two in the spring), and so on.
