Relay Indianapolis is an approved Transition to Teaching provider in the state of Indiana, and graduate students who meet the state eligibility requirements can pursue certification in one of the following areas:
- Elementary (Grades K-6)
- Secondary Mathematics (Grades 5-12)
- Secondary English Language Arts (Grades 5-12)
- Secondary Social Studies (Grades 5-12)
- Secondary Science (Grades 5-12)
Graduate students who meet the necessary state eligibility requirements will be able to apply for a Transition to Teaching Permit and (after completing necessary graduate coursework) a Practitioner’s License. To be eligible for acceptance to Relay Indianapolis and to pursue licensure in the state of Indiana:
- Elementary applicants must meet one of the following:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale; or
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale, and five (5) years of professional experience; or
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale, and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.
- Secondary applicants must meet one of the following:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale; or
- Graduate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area or related field in which the person wants to teach; or
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale, and five (5) years of professional experience; or
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 point scale, and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.
If you are required to pass a state content exam to demonstrate content knowledge, you must do so by or before July 1, 2021 in order to be enrolled with Relay Indiana in the 2021-22 Academic year.
