The basic skills requirement assesses a candidate’s competency levels in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Some states require a basic skills exam for admissions* into a teacher licensure program, and/or for eligibility for teacher licensure; therefore, what is deemed acceptable for meeting the basic skills requirement varies by the state in which a Relay candidate is seeking to enroll and/or obtain licensure. For details on which exams meet the basic skills requirement for your program, please review the table below.
For directions on how to access a score report for the Praxis Core, GRE, ACT, or SAT, please review this Support Center article: “How do I access score reports for the basic skills requirement?”

*Unless passing or minimum scores on a basic skills exam are required to enroll in an educator preparation program in your state, your scores will not have an impact on whether you receive an offer of admission from Relay (i.e., they are only for data collection purposes).
**Basic skills are required for certification/licensure but are NOT required for admissions into this program.
