Out-of-pocket costs for certification vary depending on a variety of factors. For example, all candidates take at least two certification exams, but some certification categories require up to three exams. Some candidates pursue the ESL Supplemental certificate in addition to their base certificate, which also requires an exam.
While the number of tests required is decided by the state, you can manage and minimize your out-of-pocket costs by studying to pass each exam on the first attempt and by remaining on track to meet all deadlines.
