Program Purpose Statement
Relay’s MAT in Special Education/Dual Certification program is designed to prepare individuals who have already completed a bachelor’s degree for a career in special education. The MAT in Special Education/Dual Certification program requires both coursework and clinical experience in schools. The MAT in Special Education/Dual Certification program meets educational requirements for educator licensure in multiple states and may lead to one or more certificate titles. Refer to the Educator Licensure Pathways by State and Program page on the Relay website for details.
Program Length
The Relay Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education and Dual Certification in Special Education programs are 42-credit-hour programs. Most students complete the program over the course of two academic calendar years (six terms; summer, fall, and spring) of part-time study (enrolled in fewer than nine credits but at least four credits per term).
