In order to maintain enrollment at Relay Graduate School of Education’s New York Campus, all students are required to secure and maintain a full-time instructional position (e.g., kindergarten full-time teacher) that complies with the enrollment criteria for their program. If you are a current applicant, an enrolled student, or alumni who is seeking employment, below you can find information and resources that may be able to assist you in your job search.
Please note the following:
- Relay cannot guarantee a job offer or interview with past or current school partners. The purpose of sharing this list of schools is to provide information about where some of our current and former students have worked during their enrollment at Relay.
- Students enrolled at the New York campus are required to secure and maintain employment in an approved NY City partner school. Students in the New York distance program are required to secure and maintain employment in an approved NY State partner school.
- All current students are required to work within a charter school during their enrollment at Relay unless they are affiliated with a prep program. In order to be eligible to work at a NYC DOE school, currently enrolled students must be part of a prep program such as Teach for America, New York City Teaching Fellows, New York City Teaching Collaborative, EdPrep.
- Students who experience employment changes in any way (including change of school, grade, subject area, loss of employment, etc.) during their enrollment at Relay, are responsible to notify Relay within one business day by submitting the student update form and sending an email to support@relay.edu (which will get to Relay’s administrative offices and the student’s Office of the Provost of Teacher Preparation) and to their faculty advisor.
- Students who have lost employment while enrolled, are responsible to notify Relay within one business day by submitting the student update form and sending an email to support@relay.edu (which will get to Relay’s administrative offices and the student’s Office of the Provost of Teacher Preparation) and to their faculty advisor. Please review this article for more information on the timeframe students are required to secure a new teaching position to avoid the risk of an administrative withdrawal.
- If you lose your teaching position and are not able to secure a new placement within the timeframe outlined in our policy, you may be eligible to take a Leave of Absence and return to Relay in the future. You can find more information on taking a Leave of Absence in this article.
