Students at Relay may be expecting to earn and receive Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards, TFA Education Awards, Relay Residency Scholarships, third-party scholarships, or external scholarships at the end of the academic year. A similar portion of tuition will have an extended due date of the end of the academic year.

The portion of tuition due at the end of the year will be the same amount as the “anticipated” Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, TFA Education Award, or Relay Residency Scholarship provided on their financial aid offers.

Formerly known as deferred tuition, when a school takes a portion of your financial responsibility due each term and postpones the payment of that portion. To allow students to proactively begin making payments towards this postponed balance, Relay has made the balance accessible during each term rather than at the end of the academic school year.

The Anticipated awards earned at the end of the academic year and will show on your Nelnet portal as a Pending Award /Unpaid Tuition balance. You may also choose to pay the balance before the end of the academic year.

Students who exit or leave Relay before the end of the academic year will have their pending award/unpaid tuition due immediately upon exit. Students are expected to earn the full award amount at the end of the academic year to pay for tuition retroactively upon the receipt of their awards.

The AmeriCorps Segal Education Award and the TFA Education Award must be actively applied by the student through the AmeriCorps portal or a form provided by TFA, respectively; processing may take up to two to four weeks. The Relay Residency Scholarship will be applied to eligible accounts directly by Student Financial Services.

Tuition balances are immediately made payable when a student ceases enrollment, even if the anticipated award is not earned.
