LOSS OF PREP PROGRAM/EMPLOYMENT FAQS (NYC CAMPUS)
In order to be enrolled at Relay Graduate School of Education’s New York Campus, all students must be employed in a school with a full-time teaching role (e.g., kindergarten full-time teacher). Students are required to fill out the student update form when changes are made to their employment (i.e loss of employment or change of employment). Students can submit a student record update form from the Relay Support tab of their Portal. If you are having difficulty accessing your status page, please reach out to [email protected] for technical support.
Loss of Employment
Students, who have lost employment while attending Relay Graduate School of Education’s New York Campus (Relay NY), must inform Relay NY within one business day by sending an email to [email protected] and/or their faculty advisor. Students must also find a new teaching position at a charter school within 30 days. Failure to meet these requirements will result in an administrative withdrawal from Relay NY and loss of your Transitional B certificate. Additionally, a loss of job may have financial implications.
Loss of Employment (within a Prep program)
Students, who lose employment while attending Relay NY and are affiliated with a prep program, must work with the prep program to find a new teaching position within 30 days and inform Relay NY by emailing [email protected] within 1 business day.
Loss of Prep Program
Students who are employed by the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) must be a member of an NYCDOE-approved teacher prep program, i.e. Teach For America (TFA) or New York City Teaching Fellows (NYCTF). Additional details can be found here. Students entering as part of a prep program must stay in that prep program in order to be eligible to teach at a NYC DOE school.
