Connecticut Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program - Secondary Content Areas

Residents & Non-Residents

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale from bachelor’s degree institution - exceptions available on a first-come, first-served basis

  • Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility for Teachers Acknowledgment -  see here 

  • Present a score report for one of the following Basic Skills exams (all sections):

    • Praxis Core

    • SAT

    • ACT

    • GRE

  • Coursework Requirements - minimum of 39 semester hours of credit in general academic courses - see Transition Point 1 for details.

  • Subject-Specific Coursework Requirement: via major, 30 semester hours of credit, or passing the aligned Praxis II exam for the subject area in which certification is sought

Basic Skills Exam is due 7/1/2025 for Summer Admission and 8/11/2025 for Fall Admission.
