Transition Points (Read Transition Point 1 Thoroughly)

New York Transitional B Alternative Teacher Preparation Program

Teacher Pathway & Lead Teacher

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from bachelor’s or graduate degree institution - exceptions available on a first-come, first-served basis

  • Must meet NY State certification credit requirements based on transcript evaluation.

New York Additional Certification Program - Special Education

Advanced Certificate in Special Ed

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from bachelor’s or graduate degree institution - exceptions available on a first-come, first-served basis

  • Proof of a valid New York Initial or Professional teaching certificate

  • Limited Exemption for Clinical Experience: 

    • Completed a New York State registered teacher preparation program prior to enrollment, OR

    • Hold National Board certification, OR

    • Have at least one year of effective teaching under a valid New York State or out-of-state teaching license or certificate.
