First Steps

Set up your student email.

Complete the Awards and Scholarships form. View on your Status Page.

Attend a New Student Orientation. Register on your Status Page.

Check your tech: Login to your My Relay Portal

Email [email protected] for questions you have at any time.

After May 6th, Your Manager of Student Success will contact you to set up a time to meet.

 

Prepare your Finances

Review your Financial Aid Offer on your My Relay Portal.

Enroll in AmeriCorps (where available). AmeriCorps application instructions will be sent this fall via your Relay student email. AmeriCorps members gain access to the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award (up to $7,395) after completing their teaching year. 

 

Prepare for Classes

Complete your School Authorization and Instructional Role form.

Login to Canvas to add upcoming class dates and assignments to your calendar

Bookmark the Library Intro Guide to access your course books and materials.
 

You should expect to take some of the following courses in your first term

  • EDU500 - Your Rights & Responsibilities as a Teacher or EDU540 - Relay Orientation
  • EDU501 - Building a Culturally Responsive & Inclusive Classroom for Diverse Learners
  • EDU502 - Introduction to Instructional Planning
  • If you are enrolled in a Teaching Exceptional Learners (TEL) / Special Education you will participate in TEL601 - Introduction to Special Education
  • If you are enrolled in a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners (CLD) / English Language Learners/English as a Second Language program, you will participate in CLD501 - Teaching Multilingual Learners in Inclusive Settings and CLD502 - Theory of Second Language Acquisition
  • You may, depending on your program, also be required to take an asynchronous course specific to your content area in your first term.

Attend your State-Specific Orientation. Register on your Status Page.

Check your tech: Login to Anthology Portfolio

View the Licensure and Exam Preparation Resource, if applicable

Review Licensure and Certification Resources for your location, if applicable
