Prepare to Get Certified/Licensed

You should know:

  • Your State’s Certification/Licensure Requirements

  • Your Subject and Grade Level of Placement

  • How that placement matches up to a Certification/Licensure Area

  • Any Pre-Program or Early Requirements you have to complete

  • Your Personal Study Plan - including what to study and when you will study it

We recommend that you:

  1. Read your state certification transition points in full. These can be found on a State-specific page.

  2. Secure any study guides and practice materials. Relay has provided some on the Exam Preparation page.

  3. You should create a study plan and schedule. Relay students highly recommend having a concrete plan and calendaring out your schedule to help hold yourself accountable.

  4. If necessary, register for any pre-program exams. Texas students should wait for guidance on registration.

  5. Make sure to complete your Anthology Portfolio Training as part of your Certification Orientation.
