If you've withdrawn from Relay, taken a leave of absence, been administratively withdrawn, or been dismissed, you'll need to submit a Reenrollment/Transfer (R/T) application before you can return. The same application is required if you're currently enrolled (or newly admitted) and want to switch programs or locations, or if you're moving into a Non-Degree Seeking status. Your deadline, requirements, and review process all depend on which situation applies to you — find your situation below for the exact steps that apply to you.

Which Situation Applies to You?

There are three situations that call for a Reenrollment/Transfer application:

  • Reenrolling: You're considered a reenrolling student if you've withdrawn, taken a leave of absence, been administratively withdrawn, or been dismissed from Relay for any reason.
  • Transferring: You'll also need this application if you're currently enrolled and taking classes, or newly admitted to Relay, and you want to transfer to a different location and/or program.
  • Moving to Non-Degree Seeking: If you're moving into a Non-Degree Seeking status, you'll need to complete this form to make that change.

As a general rule, plan to apply about two months before the start of the term you want to begin classes in. See our Term Dates article for more on how these dates are set. Find your situation below for your exact deadline.

Things to Know

  • We reject late applications. If yours is late, you can apply to return for a future term instead.
  • If you're taking a Leave of Absence at the end of one term and plan to return for the very next term, submit your Reenrollment/Transfer application the same day you submit your LOA request.

Admissions Considerations

Keep in mind that admissions and certification requirements can change while you're on a leave of absence or after you've exited Relay. You may be required to meet updated requirements when you reenroll.

  • If you're returning to a different program or location than the one you left, contact [LINK NEEDED] for guidance on Admission Considerations and any certification or licensure implications.

Financial Considerations

If you have an outstanding balance, you must resolve it in full by the application due date to reenroll. There are two exceptions:

  • If you're returning from a leave of absence due to compelling personal circumstances, you can reenroll with an outstanding balance as long as it's within one year of your exit.
  • If you resolve your outstanding balance within 5 business days of the application due date. If your application has already  been rejected, notify the Admissions and Enrollment team the same day you make the payment, by emailing [LINK NEEDED].

Review Process

Your application will be reviewed by the Admissions team, the Student Financial Services team, and, if applicable, the Student Success team.

We evaluate your application based on the statement you submit, your instructional role placement and position, any state- or program-specific requirements tied to your requested program, your previous academic standing at Relay, and your outstanding financial balance, if relevant.

In some circumstances, students who were dismissed or administratively withdrawn from Relay aren't eligible to reenroll.

If you request a Leave of Absence while your transfer application is under review, we'll deny the leave of absence request. You'll need to withdraw your transfer application first if you want to request a leave of absence.

What Happens After You Apply

If You're Offered Admission

If we approve your application, our Admissions and Enrollment team will email you an offer of reenrollment/transfer along with a support plan covering your classes, certification requirements (if applicable), and financial obligations for the term.

Note: If you receive your offer after the start of the term, you'll have 5 business days to accept it. If you wait too long, we may withdraw the offer.

  1. To accept, review your support plan and electronically accept or decline.
  2. We automatically send a school authorization and instructional role form to your school of employment to complete. Our Registrar's Office then moves forward with enrolling you.
  3. We'll assign you a Manager of Student Success. If you're reenrolling for any reason, meet with your Manager of Student Success to understand how course and program requirements have changed since your prior enrollment, and how those changes affect your goals. You can request to connect with your Manager of Student Success by emailing [email protected].

When you accept an offer of reenrollment or transfer, you're agreeing to our current school policies and confirming that you understand and accept the terms in your support plan — including your selected program, course load, certification requirements, and financial obligations. It's your responsibility to thoroughly review your offer before accepting it.

If You're Denied Admission

  1. If we deny your application, we'll email you with the reason for the denial.
  2. If you have questions or believe there's an error, contact [LINK NEEDED] for clarification.

Program Availability

Find Relay's full programmatic offerings in our Academic Catalog. Not all programs are available at every location or in both online and local formats, and our offerings may change over time. Reenrollment in your original program isn't guaranteed. If you're enrolled in a discontinued program version, reach out to [LINK NEEDED] with any questions about your timeline.
